Heading up the Witches Falls winemaking team is Witches Falls owner and Chief Winemaker Jon Heslop. Jon has been actively involved in the winemaking industry since 1995 and during this time has worked in the Barossa and Hunter Valleys in Australia as well as internationally in Burgundy France and the Napa Valley in the USA. Jon has a Bachelor of Applied science in Oenology. While Jon has a respect for traditional winemaking practices he also has a passion for innovation and it is this combination that has brought the Witches Falls Wild Ferment range into fruition. Outside the winery Jon loves his sport, whether it be spectating or participating, and has a passion for travel.
Winemaker Arantza Milicua Celador is the newest member of the Witches Falls Winemaking team. After four years working as a winemaker in her homeland Spain, Arantza decided she wanted to break with the conventions of an ‘old world’ wine region and experience some of the fluidity she saw in the approach of ‘new world’ wine regions such as New Zealand and Australia. While enjoying working in New Zealand Arantza continued to research opportunities in Australia and quickly identified the Granite Belt as a wine region that had all the conditions required to be exceptional. She became convinced that to truly experience a new world environment where experimentation was still greeted with enthusiasm, the Granite Belt was the place to be! Arantza brings a unique, multinational approach to the winemaking process and her vision for the Granite Belt region is a perfect compliment to Jon’s. Outside the winery Arantza, likes spending time outdoors whether it be hiking, gardening or swimming. She loves sports, is a keen horse rider and has a passion for travelling and cooking for friends – in other words she fits in perfectly!
